Houston Texans: Week 10 was not kind to Deshaun Watson and Co.
The Houston Texans not only lost in Week 10 but their former star provided the moment of the season.
The 2020 NFL season hasn’t gone according to plan for the Houston Texans. After being up 24-0 against the Kansas City Chiefs in last season’s AFC Divisional Round, very little has gone right for Houston. For one, they’re 2-7 on the year, which is a far cry from what this team is capable of accomplishing.
Second, they’ve had to watch DeAndre Hopkins ball out for the Arizona Cardinals. Hopkins is in Arizona because former Texans head coach Bill O’Brien decided to trade him there in exchange for washed-up running back David Johnson was a good idea. It was not a good idea and O’Brien learned that the hard way, getting fired earlier this season.
To make matters worse, the Texans can’t even benefit from their poor season, as their first-round pick belongs to Miami. Houston has it pretty tough right now, but at least they have one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Deshaun Watson, right?
Week 10 was especially painful for the Houston Texans.
The Texans traveled to Cleveland and had to play the Browns in some absolutely disgusting weather. They couldn’t find the end zone until the fourth quarter and that was all they were able to muster up on the day, losing 10-7 to a beatable Browns team. That’s one reason this week was tough for Houston.
The other reason is that while the Texans were losing in miserable fashion once again, their former wide receiver made an insanely awesome play to end the Cardinals/Bills game. If you haven’t seen it by now, Hopkins was able to jump over three Bills defenders to grab the “Hail Murray” and win the game for Arizona.
Houston is missing that kind of star power right now. While Hopkins is having an amazing season with the Cardinals (861 yards and four touchdowns), the Texans’ leading receiver, Will Fuller, has 628 yards (though he does have more touchdowns, for what it’s worth). It’s been a rough go of it for the Houston Texans this year and they won’t even reap the benefits of having a bad season.
In fact, the Texans won’t be on the clock until the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. It’s certainly possible that they can re-enter the first and second rounds this offseason, but for now, the Texans are in a heap of trouble and really can’t do much about it. This weekend was only more salt in the wounds.
