4. Tennessee Titans

From 1960 through 1996, the Tennessee Titans played in a different state and were known as the Houston Oilers. They then moved to Nashville and became known as the Tennessee Oilers for two seasons. Then, in 1999 they became the Titans.

Apparently, fans of the team weren’t too keen on the name “Oilers” once they were in Tennessee, as a report from CBS News said that there were calls to radio shows criticizing the name. At the time, Bud Adams was the owner and he listened to the fans, saying he chose the name Titans, as a way of honoring the city his team moved to.

"“Titans come from early Greek mythology and the fact that Nashville is known as the `Athens of the South’ makes the Titans name very appropriate,” Adams said via CBS News."

While all this is true, the uniforms now are terrible when compared to what they wore in Houston. The red, white, and blue of the Oilers during the careers of Warren Moon and Earl Campbell were some of the best in the game and it’s a shame we never get to see them anymore.

While they might not be able to get away with the oil rig, they can try and get the color scheme from their original uniforms. It wouldn’t be a true throwback, but they would look much better if they did try and get that style back on the field.
