Pleasant NFL Surprise No. 2: Arizona Cardinals

People expected to see the Arizona Cardinals greatly improve this year, but not many expected them to be leading the toughest division in football after 10 weeks. That’s exactly what we’re looking at though, as Kyler Murray’s “Hail Murray” to DeAndre Hopkins this weekend propelled the Cardinals into first place in the NFC West.

Murray was the reason people jumped on board the Cardinals bandwagon this year because we saw his playmaking abilities at Oklahoma and figured it’d translate to today’s NFL. Turns out, we were right! The former No. 1 pick in 2019 has been sensational in his second season and has his Cardinals in first place in the toughest division.

There’s a long road ahead for Arizona and it’ll be tough for them to fight off both the Rams and the Seahawks in the NFC West, but the fact that they’re even in the race for the division title is impressive. Most people likely assumed that the 49ers would be better this year and that the Cardinals, though not bad, would be in the basement of the division.

Whoever gets second in the NFC West should get the NFC East’s home playoff game.
