NFL Hot Seat candidate No. 1: Anthony Lynn, Los Angeles Chargers

Similar to the Denver Broncos, the Los Angeles Chargers have been decimated by injury in both the preseason and regular season. They have been far more competitive than the Broncos despite their injuries and through a combination of self-sabotage and bad luck, have found themselves looking up at the rest of the AFC West at 2-7.

They have lost all seven games this year by one score and have been competitive in every single one. The fact that they were competitive in all their losses and in a position to win most of those games could be what spells doom for Anthony Lynn’s tenure in LA.

Ownership could point to several errors in time and game management made by Lynn and his staff and could argue that a more seasoned coach could make a difference.

Another layer to this is the tremendous potential shown by rookie QB Justin Herbert and the fact that ownership may want to hire a coach with a proven track record of developing young quarterbacks. They may wait until the end of the season and let the team bottom out for a better draft position in 2021 but Lynn will likely be looking for another job next year.
