The Jets make Justin Fields the No. 1 pick in this 2021 NFL mock draft in a shocking move.

As we’re at Week 11 of the 2020 NFL season, it feels somewhat remarkable that both the league and college football have made it to late-November with the season still rolling on. There have been hiccups, to be sure, but we are waging forward towards the playoffs, the Super Bowl and then the 2021 NFL Draft. And as we wage forward, we must continue with another 2021 NFL mock draft.

With many college football teams now in the home stretch of the regular season, we have started to garner more information about the top prospects for the 2021 NFL Draft. Some have proven themselves, some have raised questions and some have shot up draft boards in major ways with phenomenal campaigns this season.

Things can still change with the remaining games in the college season and with the pre-draft process. But at this point in the season, let’s dive into another 2021 NFL mock draft as we look at what every team could do given how this class shakes out currently.

The draft order was determined using our latest NFL Power Rankings, meaning that some divisions (namely the NFC East) won’t have a team picking as a playoff team. Don’t worry, we’ll get there soon.

We’re starting off this 2021 NFL mock draft with a bit of a shocker — but only a bit. While the general assumption has been that Trevor Lawrence is the defacto No. 1 overall pick in this class, why couldn’t the still-winless New York Jets take Justin Fields? Both quarterbacks check every box as a franchise player and have their own unique skill-sets.

Lawrence is certainly the more prototypical player but Fields’ talent is unbelievable. The Ohio State signal-caller possesses good arm strength with impressive accuracy, though his feel for an NFL offense may cause a bit of a transitional period. Even still, his athleticism sets him apart as he’s a dynamic rusher that can change games with his legs. The Jets need a game-changer and it’s hard to go wrong with either player.

But maybe — just maybe — Fields’ unique tools are enough for Gang Green to make him the top pick.

If the Jets took Lawrence, the Jacksonville Jaguars would be more than happy to take Fields. But with Trevor Lawrence still on the board, they are equally as thrilled as they also have the opportunity to select a franchise quarterback that is desperately needed for the team to get back into contention in the AFC South moving forward.

The Jaguars have some enticing young talent on both sides of the ball with the likes of D.J. Chark, breakout UDFA rookie James Robinson, C.J. Henderson and Josh Allen, among others. But the Jags don’t have a long-term answer at quarterback. Lawrence has been a projected NFL star from the moment he arrived at Clemson and it’s not hard to see why when watching. He has it all and could drastically alter the fortunes of the Jags.
