. CB. Los Angeles Chargers. Patrick Surtain II. 5. player. 13

Justin Herbert has been better than anyone could’ve imagined in his rookie season with the Los Angeles Chargers. Bad haircuts aside, the young quarterback unexpectedly took over and hasn’t looked back. Unfortunately, his individual success hasn’t resulted in many wins for the Bolts to this point. Subsequently, they need to shore up the weaknesses on the roster, one of which is the cornerback group.

Patrick Surtain II out of Alabama could be the answer to that in a big way. The Crimson Tide standout has everything an NFL team could want at the position with size, length, speed and technique that make him a nightmare for offenses on the outside. The Chargers need a young force in that regard, which makes this a pretty easy decision for them at No. 5.

LB. Miami Dolphins. Micah Parsons. 6. player. 59.

(Pick via Texans) – Talk about getting the best of both worlds. If someone had the Dolphins making a top-10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft coming into the year, the assumption was likely that Miami was still rebuilding. Instead, the Fins are currently sitting in a playoff spot while the Texans, who owe Miami their first-round pick, are one of the worst teams in the league. That opens the door in a big way for the Dolphins.

The options are plentiful for Miami in this situation but they need a full-on playmaker in the middle of the defense to complete a unit that has been playing exceptionally well this season. Penn State’s Micah Parsons could be that player. Though he opted-out of the 2020 season, Parsons is a playmaker in every aspect of the position, a certified blue-chip prospect who Brian Flores would love to work with.
