Atlanta Falcons: Studs and duds from Week 11 vs. Saints
Stud: Holding the running game in check somewhat
Coming into the game, New Orleans featured one of the top running back units in the NFL both in the passing attack and on the ground. Led by Alvin Kamara and company, the Falcons were faced with the test of trying to hold that unit in check during the game on Sunday and actually did a relatively decent job matching up against Kamara and company.
In the game, Kamara finished with just 13 carries for 45 yards and one touchdown for the Saints, who finished with 36 rushes for 168 yards as a team. Taysom Hill led that group on the ground with 51 yards and two rushing touchdowns under center.
The Saints were able to run the ball still, but the Falcons did a relatively decent job in holding Kamara and company in check during the game.
Dud: Allowing Hill to operate with ease
With Brees out of the game due to injury, Hill got the start at quarterback to lead the New Orleans offense. With question marks as to how Hill would be able to lead the Saints, the quarterback did just that en route to a win.
Hill had success both through the air and on the ground for New Orleans, which is something the team doesn’t really have when Brees is under center. And that was something the Falcons struggled with all day long in the loss.
Hill finished the contest with 18 completions for 233 yards in the passing game, also running the ball 10 times for 51 yards and two touchdowns.
With Brees out, Hill picked up the pace and led the Saints offense to another win here in 2020, and Atlanta just didn’t have an answer for him all game long.
