  • Pro Football Hall of Fame (Inducted in 2002)
  • Super Bowl Champ (XX)
  • 4x Pro Bowler
  • NFL 1980s All-Decade Team

Dan Hampton was a member of one of the best NFL defenses of all time and that helped form when the Chicago Bears took him with the fourth pick in the 1979 NFL Draft. Hampton had been a monster on the field during his time at Arkansas and it wasn’t surprising to see him pick right back up from where he left off once he entered the pros.

Hampton spent his entire NFL career with the Bears, retiring from the league after the 1990 season. He suffered several injuries during his time in the NFL but was still crazy good, finishing his career with 57 total sacks over a 12-year span.

Hampton left the NFL with a Super Bowl title and was one of the best defensive players in the 1980s. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002.

Runner-up: Lance Alworth – Back when “flanker” was a position in the NFL, Alworth shone brightly. He finished his 11-year career split between the Chargers and Cowboys with 10,266 receiving yards and 85 touchdowns.

  • 5x Pro Bowler
  • Defensive Player of the Year (1996)
  • 2x NFL Sacks Leader (1994, 1996)

Kevin Greene was the steal of the 1985 NFL Draft, as the Los Angeles Rams took him in the fifth round and he went on to be a Hall of Fame player at two different positions. After eight years with the Rams, Greene spent the final seven years of his career with three different teams.

He was a force to be reckoned with on the football field, totaling 160 sacks through his 15-year career. The most sacks he had in a single season was 14.5 in 1996 when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers.

Greene was still crushing it in the final year of his career (1999), notching 12 sacks and going out with a bang before hanging up the cleats and calling it a career. From a fifth-round draft pick to a future Hall of Famer, Kevin Greene made Auburn proud with the career he had in the NFL.
