Green Bay Packers: 3 X-factor players for Week 11 vs. Colts
Green Bay Packers X-factor No. 1: RB Aaron Jones
Week 10 for Packers star running back Aaron Jones was one to forget as he had just 46 yards on 13 rush attempts against the Jacksonville Jaguars. What makes the Green Bay offense so lethal is that they complement the run with the pass in a perfect yin-yang relationship.
With that being said, in order for the air attack to be efficient, the run game needs to pave a path for it. Therefore, there is no one on this team more important than Jones in this matchup for the Packers.
The former UTEP star has reached the 100-yard marker just once on his 2020 campaign. In order to make the argument for being worthy of the big contract extension he desires, he needs to start it by having a commanding performance against the third-ranked rush defense in the NFL in Week 11 when the Pack faces off against the Indianapolis Colts.
If the Packers can be effective in the ground game, it’ll directly lead to effectiveness in the passing game as well. However, without the former, the latter won’t follow. The only way the Packers can fend off this monstrous Indy defense is by following their recipe book for success: run the ball and force them to stack the box, then hit them with the typical deep, play-action passes for large gains.
Should they do this, they’ll have no problem moving to 8-2 on the season and taking the crown of the NFC as they head closer to the postseason. If the run can’t be established though, they’ll fall to 7-3 on the season and begin having to start answering some tough questions.
