Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a knee injury that saw him carted off.

No. 1 overall pick, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, had been on pace to set numerous rookie records and put forth one of the best rookie quarterback seasons in NFL history. Unfortunately, he became the latest victim of a seemingly devastating injury.

Early in the third quarter the rookie from LSU took a shot in the lower leg as his pass sailed out of bounds. There was no official diagnosis other than the quarterback had suffered a leg injury but he was carted off the field. A number of his former teammates at Ohio State, Washington’s Chase Young and Terry McLaurin, came onto the field to support the injured signal-caller, as did much of both rosters.

Whether or not Burrow takes another snap this season remains to be seen following a further diagnosis. However, this delivers a significant blow to the Bengals given how little talent they have and what Burrow has meant to the team.

Since being drafted by the Bengals, Burrow has provided a lift to a franchise that was once stuck in quarterback purgatory.

Without Joe Burrow, the Bengals don’t have a backup plan.

There are good players in Cincinnati but Burrow’s leadership cannot be questioned or replaced. Even with an offensive line that has largely been porous, particularly at the right tackle position, it was Burrow’s ability to make plays that made the Bengals exciting.

Furthermore, there is already enough pressure on head coach Zac Taylor to turn the franchise around. With Ryan Finley taking over the snaps, there are a number of questions as to what is to be expected with Cincinnati.

Burrow seemed to have answered the quarterback position, which led to other needs having to be a top priority to address. Now a quarterback injury leaves Cincinnati in a worse spot than how they entered Week 11. Let’s just hope that Burrow can make a full, speedy recovery and get back on the field to continue an already promising career.
