The Philadelphia Eagles continue to commit turnovers and it continues to be costly.

Throughout the 2020 NFL season, Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles have been no stranger to committing turnovers and erratic play. The pattern continued on a rainy day against Cleveland in Week 11 as Wentz threw two interceptions in a 22-17 loss, bringing Wentz’s interception total to 14 on the season.

Additionally, the inability to make plays down the field and get the ball to playmakers is proving to be costly as Philadelphia is now 3-6-1. Though they are still in the lead in the NFC East, the type of sloppy play that has been displayed throughout this season will not be enough to win.

The offensive line, injuries and all, has lacked in protection, as they allowed five sacks against the Browns, even without pass rusher Myles Garrett in the lineup on Sunday.

The defense on the other hand, particularly the defensive line, allowed Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to have productive days. Though Baker Mayfield didn’t throw for a single touchdown, he had a relatively calm game. That alone should have defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and head coach Doug Pederson shaking their heads.

The Philadelphia Eagles need a complete makeover on both sides of the ball

To blame Carson Wentz and Doug Pederson alone isn’t enough. The attention must also be diverted to Howie Roseman, the same man who was hailed after a magical night in Minneapolis that culminated in a Lombardi Trophy.

Since that night, Roseman has not done well in drafting players and instead opted for sizzle over substance. In other words, the franchise has consistently opted for weapons instead of protection that would likely have been beneficial in helping Wentz avoid turnovers.

Regardless of where the finger-pointing goes, the Eagles are in a bad shape despite leading the division. Continuance of these erratic habits will only derail the season and could potentially knock them out of the playoff race altogether. Time is running out and the city is getting restless, a combination that is very detrimental.
