Despite a dominant win on Thanksgiving, Deshaun Watson and the Texans need more help

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson proved why he is one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the league with a 41-25 win over the Lions on Thanksgiving.

However, despite his greatness, Watson has often had to play the role of hero for Houston due in large part to the lack of talent on the roster. A majority or practically all the blame can be solely placed upon the shoulders of now-departed head coach Bill O’Brien.

Unfortunately, one of the moves that O’Brien made robbed Watson of his favorite target in DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins is currently making plays in Arizona and has the Cardinals looking for the postseason. Meanwhile, Watson has players such as Will Fuller and Brandin Cooks at his disposal. Not bad, but nowhere the level of production of Hopkins.

If Deshaun Watson wants a championship, the Texans roster must improve significantly

Four touchdown passes against a Detroit Lions squad that has indoctrinated new ways of ineptitude doesn’t say much about what’s really going on in Houston. This team is 4-7 and, as of now, won’t play football past the end of the regular season.

Furthermore, given the fact that misguided trades have stripped the team of their first- and second-round draft picks, the likelihood of picking a top notch prospect is slim to none. This offseason, the staff will have to adjust their draft boards in hopes of finding late-round talent.

There is also no word as to whether or not interim head coach Romeo Crennel will keep his job or a new face such as Eric Bienemy or even Brandon Staley would take the job in Houston. Lastly, defensive end J.J. Watt has made it clear he’s not in a rebuilding mode and wants to win. Deshaun Watson is here and he needs help. It’s now up to the Houston Texans to deliver the goods.
