2021 NFL Mock Draft: Zach Wilson goes top-5 to Washington, Falcons land Trey Lance
By Randy Gurzi
Is pick No. 5 high for Gregory Rousseau? Yes, it is. While he was highly productive in 2019, the Miami pass rusher opted out of the 2020 season and he’s still a work in progress. Athletic as they come, he’s raw and needs a lot of work. But all the tools are there for him to be an elite force at the next level.
What could help him with the Detroit Lions is the presence of Trey Flowers. The veteran defensive end is a player who can help Rousseau learn the ropes plus, all the pressure won’t be on the rookie to carry the load right away. He can take his time to develop and once he starts firing on all cylinders, this defensive line could be nasty.
(Pick via Houston Texans): The Miami Dolphins own the Houston Texans pick here and after having three picks in Round 1 in 2020, they have two in 2021. They continue their rebuild by landing another defensive stud in Penn State’s Micah Parsons, who instantly becomes the face of this defense.
Head coach Brian Flores has proven to be a great defensive mind and having a chess piece such as Parsons, who does nothing but make big plays, will allow him to take his defense to the next level. Miami still needs to add some key pieces but this is a team trending in the right direction — even after suffering a frustrating loss in Week 11.
