Is there a team that can stop the Kansas City Chiefs from repeating as champions?

The Kansas City Chiefs are on a mission to be the first team since the 2004 New England Patriots to repeat as Super Bowl champions. On Sunday, they defeated the man who quarterbacked the Pats en route to that achievement, Tom Brady.

In a game where Patrick Mahomes continued on his quest to be the league’s best and Tyreek Hill blazed past the Bucs defense while imitating Shannon Sharpe, it almost seemed like the Chiefs simply would outrace Tampa Bay. While the final score was 27-24, the game didn’t feel as close as the score would indicate.

The defense is still struggling, but they picked up the slack when necessary. And the offense? They are who they are and the pieces are there for success, However, they do have one loss this season to a division rival in the Raiders, who played them well the second time around.

Kansas City has been able to win in close games through different kinds of football which will serve them well down the road.

They are defending champs but who can really knock off the Kansas City Chiefs?

It’s a standard question? Which team is best equipped to knock Kansas City out of its pursuit for a second straight Super Bowl championship? There really isn’t a clear answer. Can a team give Kansas City trouble? Absolutely. But knocking them out? Highly unlikely.

As of right now, the Chiefs sit at the No. 2 seed in the AFC behind the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team that is both well-balanced and well-coached. Additionally, they have talent and are used to beating the Chiefs. However, with Mahomes in the lineup, the Steel City hangover might not be enough this time. Furthermore, the AFC is competitive, but even at their best would have trouble containing the Chiefs.

In the other conference, we saw how Tampa Bay played after giving up an early 17 point lead. Additionally, the NFC produces tough teams outside of the NFC East and Andy Reid has coached before in the conference which means that he is familiar with the physicality and style of play.

When you have experience in both coaching and players, it’s a recipe for victory. They may suffer a loss sooner than later, but it’s highly likely that Kansas City will be in Tampa Bay once again with a victory, this time with a Lombardi.
