NFL Power Rankings, Week 13: Browns make history, Packers win big
By Randy Gurzi
Well, this one was unexpected. The Atlanta Falcons have had a season to forget but they sure seem like a different team with Raheem Morris coaching them. Since taking over for Dann Quinn, Morris has gone 4-2 and turned this 0-5 club into a 4-7 unit that could still finish with a respectable record. And they were one Todd Gurley accidental touchdown from being 5-1 under Morris.
He’s making quite the case for the permanent job in Atlanta and even if he doesn’t get hired full-time there, it’s hard not to envision him getting another shot to take over a team. Especially after what he and his Dirty Birds did on Sunday.
At home against the Las Vegas Raiders, who nearly beat the Kansas City Chiefs for a second time this season a week ago, Atlanta went off. They forced three fumbles from Derek Carr and another out of Josh Jacobs. There was also a pick-six as Deion Jones took a Carr pass 67-yards to the house.
This was a complete dismantling as the Falcons won it easily by a score of 43-6. There will be those who point to the Raiders failing to protect the ball and accuse them of blowing this one, but Atlanta came out ready to play and they took advantage of a team not playing to their potential.
