60. . . Previous: 16th. Minnesota Vikings. 16. team

Had it not been for a shocking upset loss at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys, the Minnesota Vikings could have a winning record right now. After a terrible 1-5 start to the season, the Vikings had three wins in a row before the unexpected loss to the Cowboys in Week 11. Then in Week 12, they were able to put that loss behind them and secure their fifth win of the season, moving to 5-6 on the year.

Kirk Cousins was great in this one, carving up the Carolina Panthers to the tune of 307 yards with three touchdowns, and the Vikings needed everything he offered in this one. Trailing 21-10 entering the fourth quarter, Cousins led them to 18 points as he hit Justin Jefferson for a 10-yard touchdown with 5:31 to play to make it 24-21.

Carolina answered with a field goal but Cousins got back to work. He led Minnesota on a seven-play drive that covered 75 yards and was capped off with another 10-yard touchdown — this time to Chad Beebe. Minnesota then had a bit of good fortune as the Panthers got the ball with 46 seconds to play and moved it to the Minnesota 36 thanks to former Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s coll under pressure.

Kicker Joey Slye came in for a potential game-winner but he missed it, and the home team was able to hold them off for the win.
