Tua Tagovailoa was unable to go for the Miami Dolphins in Week 12 as his thumb injury kept him out of the game. It didn’t matter though since Ryan Fitzpatrick was more than up to the task against the winless New York Jets. The former starter for this team, Fitzpatrick was having one of his best campaigns as a pro before getting benched in favor of the No. 5 overall pick.

Fitzpatrick was honest about how it felt losing his job, saying this one really hurt. He felt as though he and the Dolphins were building toward something special and he was able to show in Week 12 that he can still get it done. The veteran threw for 257 yards and had two touchdowns in the lopsided win.

Miami is now 7-4 and still in the mix for the AFC East, something that wasn’t really expected heading into this season. It was a true team effort too as Fitzpatrick was aided by a running game that topped 100 yards and a defense that picked off Sam Darnold twice and sacked him three times.

In regards to Tua, there has to be some concern going forward. He struggled mightily with health at Alabama and that’s already a problem in the pros. Hopefully the thumb injury can prove to be an anomaly, but the fact is, he is often on the sidelines which was the big knock on him coming into the NFL.
