Austin Ekeler returned for the Los Angeles Chargers and played in his first game since Oct. 4. The Chargers were reminded how much they lean on him as he finished this game with 25 touches. He led them on the ground with 14 rushes for 44 yards and as well through the air with a team-high in both receptions (11) and yards (85). As good as he was, it wasn’t enough.

Los Angeles fell to 3-8 on the season as they had no answers for the Buffalo Bills ground game. They surrendered 172 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries and a couple of passing touchdowns were added — one by wide receiver Cole Beasley who threw it on a trick play. It was enough for the Bills to win by 10, even though the Chargers continued to fight back.

Rookie quarterback Justin Herbert gave it everything he had, which has been the case for him all season. He threw it 52 times with 31 completions with a one-to-one touchdown to interception ratio. Herbert continues to impress but the Chargers just have far too many holes for them to contend right now. The good news is, they have their franchise quarterback and a few key pieces such as Ekeler, tight end Hunter Henry, and stud pass-rusher Joey Bosa. They’re in good shape going forward, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.
