DraftKings NFL picks, Week 13: Best DFS fantasy football values
By Drew DeLuca
DraftKings Week 13 NFL picks and values: Tight Ends
Premium Tier ($5,000 and up): With Jason Kelce playing on Sunday night, only two players make up this tier, and we love them both this week: Darren Waller (LV at NYJ, $6,100) and T.J. Hockenson (DET at CHI, $5,000). The Jets rank 25th in average points allowed to tight ends over the last four weeks, so expect Waller to beat them up and take their lunch money; Hockenson should likewise have a day against a Chicago Bears unit that ranks in the league’s bottom five against fantasy tight ends over the same span.
Mid-Tier Values ($4,000 to $4,900): Normally, we prefer to either pay up or go cheap, but we find solid value in this tier this week: Evan Engram (NYG at SEA, $4,900), Dallas Goedert (PHI at GB, $4,300), and Mike Gesicki (MIA vs. CIN, $4,200) all get stamps of approval. We’re also keeping an eye on Hayden Hurst (ATL vs. NO, $4,000), who has seen seven or more targets in four of his last five games, and could be the beneficiary of a wide receiving corps that’s struggling to get back to full health.
Value Tier ($3,000 to $3,900): This is normally where we write something nice about Logan Thomas, but he plays the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. That leaves us with Robert Tonyan (GB vs. PHI, $3,700), who faces an Eagles defense that has had problems against the tight end this season, and Kyle Rudolph (MIN vs. JAX, $3,400), who’s staring a smash week in the face with Irv Smith, Jr. once again on the shelf:
Best Buy: With Jonnu Smith ruled out, we’re heeding the advice of AngrySportsCouple and stocking our lineups full of Anthony Firkser (TEN vs. CIN, $2,500), who caught eight of nine targets for 113 yards and a touchdown in Week 6. Firkser has seen his snap share and target volume increase ever since and should outproduce his price point by a fair margin with Jonnu Smith on the shelf this week.
Bargain Bin: There are a few interesting names here, but why dirty your hands further? There’s no reason to keep digging when you can start Firkser at that price, in a matchup like that, with no competition from injured teammate Smith.
