There will be no shortage of options for the Detroit Lions when they’re on the clock. And in this 2021 NFL Mock Draft, that comes at No. 5 overall. They will have a new GM and a head coach after firing Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia, which could lead to them moving on from Matt Stafford. While that’s a possibility, we go a different route here and predict the new regime sticks with No. 9.

Instead of moving on from him, they get him a new top-flight receiver to pair with Kenny Golladay — who will hopefully be back at 100 percent following a frustrating season full of injuries. Their selection is Ja’Marr Chase, who opted out of the 2020 season but did enough as a sophomore to be the No. 1 wideout in this class.

That season, Chase had 1,780 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns. He was unstoppable and even had more than 21 yards per reception. Adding him should help the Lions make the most out of Stafford’s remaining years.

It’s hard to talk about the Philadelphia Eagles and not mention their quarterback situation. Carson Wentz has simply been bad and there are now calls to move to Jalen Hurts. That’s going to be hard since Wentz is due so much money, so maybe instead, they can become an elite defense and turn him into a game manager.

That’s the idea with the selection of Micah Parsons at No. 6. One of the best defenders in the nation in 2019, Parsons also sat out this season but should be one of the first players off the board still. He can play a middle linebacker role but also has the ability to rush the passer. He should make the entire defense better.
