Losing to Detroit, the Chicago Bears only added to their reputation of mediocrity.

In the NFL, you have to win to push forward and progress. And the Chicago Bears did the opposite with another loss, this time against a division rival in the Detroit Lions. However, given the state of affairs with the Bears and the number of holes that need to be filled on both sides of the ball, you have to be careful with how you view this game.

Some will view it as a game that continues a long losing streak after head coach Matt Nagy’s fired-up press conference. There are others, however, who see it as the Bears continuing to be what they have been for a majority of the McCaskey ownership, which is a mediocre organization. Not bad enough to draft high and not good enough to make a serious run. Neither factor sits well with a proud fanbase.

Losing is never fun and winning is always good, but the Bears have yet to find consistency meaning either result is not good enough. They beat the bad teams, but struggle against the good teams. Against Detroit, the Bears came up with a 34-30 loss.

The Bears continued their long losing streak and there’s more work to be done

Chicago is in a situation where they are likely to miss the playoffs given the competition within the NFC. Additionally, it figures that both head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace may be relieved of their duties. It’s very sad but that may just be what lies in store. Whoever takes the reins following the conclusion of this season will be faced with a big task.

Given that the offense needs a boost on the line and especially the quarterback position, it may just take another trade up for Chicago to land their new quarterback.

Whether or not they choose the right quarterback this time around is up to them. Moreover, the defense is not getting any younger and some contracts will have to be moved to create cap space and fresh talent is desired.

Six consecutive defeats for the Windy City. Maybe the Bears will find a way to get back some luck with new stewardship but only time will tell.
