Bold predictions for the Green Bay Packers against the Eagles in Week 13.

The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles were projected by many to be division-winners in the 2020 NFL season. And while that’s still in play for both teams, the fortunes of each squad as they head into a Week 13 clash at Lambeau Field on Sunday could not be more different.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers enter this game with an 8-3 record as they sit atop the NFC North and have largely been rolling. The quarterback is playing at an MVP level this year and his weapons are all showing up, despite the offseason criticism of the front office for not adding any players to the mix there. This team is primed for a playoff run.

On the other hand, the Eagles have been struggling mightily. They’ve fallen out of the NFC East lead, despite the disastrous showing from the division this season. And while the pass-catchers, offensive line and defense have been problematic, quarterback Carson Wentz has been downright bad this year. For Philly to turn it around, he has to find some magic.

So what will happen for the Green Bay Packers in this matchup? Let’s make five bold predictions for the NFC North leaders against the Eagles on Sunday in Week 13.

Green Bay Packers bold prediction No. 5: Tonyan grabs a pair of TDs

Considering that they come into this game with their lowly record, it’s safe to say the Eagles have plenty of deficiencies. But arguably the worst part of the roster right now is the linebacker corps. This group has been a disaster for much of the year, which is something that breakout tight end Robert Tonyan has to be thrilled about.

Tonyan is third on the Packers this season in receiving yards but also has seven touchdowns, second only to Davante Adams on the offense. With this matchup at hand, Rodgers will look to Tonyan in the red zone once again and will find him in the end zone at least twice on Sunday.

Green Bay Packers bold prediction No. 4: Defense gets burned by Ertz

If there’s an area where the Green Bay pass defense has struggled a bit — or is at least susceptible — it’s in the middle of the field. So Eagles fans are likely salivating at the notion that tight end Zach Ertz is slated to return on Sunday for this Week 13 matchup at Lambeau Field.

Though this will mean that Wentz has to be playing well, which is not a given at this point in the year, having his security blanket back will help him a bit. The Packers will struggle to hang with Ertz as the pass-catcher will return like gangbusters with at least six catches for a minimum of 85 yards and a score.

Green Bay Packers bold prediction No. 3: Adams notches another 100-1 game

If you’ve forgotten what a Packers game looks like where Davante Adams doesn’t find the end zone, you’re not alone. The star wide receiver has been on a tear with scores in his last six games and nine touchdowns overall over that span. He also has three games of over 100 yards in his last six outings as well.

Though Adams will likely match up with Darius Slay on Sunday, that’s not a no-go matchup. In fact, you could argue that the Green Bay star is just matchup-proof at this point. And he’ll prove that with at least 100 yards and another score.

Green Bay Packers bold prediction No. 2: Sanders gets bottled up

The Green Bay run defense has been the subject of criticism for this year and last season as well, for good reason. Mike Pettine’s unit has severely struggled at bottling up the run. But in this matchup against the Eagles and Miles Sanders, they’ll have one of their best games of the year.

Philadelphia’s offensive line is in absolute shambles right now, which will allow the likes of Kenny Clark to get a big push up the middle. The result will be no holes for Sanders to work into and he’ll be held under 50 yards rushing on the day.

Green Bay Packers bold prediction No. 1: Rodgers tosses 5 TDs in big win

Though we could see the running backs have some success against the aforementioned Eagles linebackers, I expect this to be another big game for Rodgers. He’s been playing at an MVP level all year and the Philadelphia defense doesn’t have the horses to stop that trend.

Rodgers is going to spread the wealth, as you probably figured with the mentions of Tonyan and Adams, and will consistently find open looks in the end zone. When it’s all said and done, the league-leader in touchdown passes will add to that total with five scores on the day to lead the Packers to 9-3 on the season.
