Stud: Getting another win, moving into playoff picture

With the win, the Vikings improved to 6-6 overall on the year and have now won five of their last six contests after starting the year 1-5.

While climbing back to the .500 mark, Minnesota could be in the final Wild Card spot in the NFC sooner rather than later, having entered Week 13 just a game behind the Arizona Cardinals who held that spot leading into the weekend.

Moving forward, the Vikings still have their work cut out for them to try and get into the playoffs, but they are certainly in the heart of that picture right now.

Dud: Making things too close for comfort

When you first look at Jacksonville, the fact that it came into the game at 1-10 overall made you think that Minnesota should have rolled to a win at home during the contest. Although they do hold a brutal record, the Jaguars have actually put together some solid performances and have played some teams close in games to this point in the year. As was on display in Week 13, that was once again the case against Minnesota.

The Vikings made things a little too close for comfort, however, behind a lackluster effort that almost cost them the victory in the end.

Minnesota has played down to some opponents this year, resulting in a few awful losses against teams such as the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys, and that’s something that can’t happen if the Vikings want to reach the postseason.
