The New York Giants started 0-5 but may find themselves in the playoffs anyway.

Heading into Sunday’s matchup in the Pacific Northwest, the New York Giants found themselves as double-digit underdogs against a potential Super Bowl favorite. Given what Seattle represented and how they were eyeing a playoff run, it was conventional to pick them over a team that resided in the league’s most historic yet worst division of the year.

Instead, like teams before them, New York found a way to win a close game against an offense known for its explosiveness, a style of play that would make the 2007 team smile. Shutting down an MVP candidate in Russell Wilson is impressive in itself and a 17-12 victory now has New York at 5-7 for the 2020 NFL season.

The record is undoubtedly laughable as why would someone be happy with that mark this late in the season? However, it stands as the best in the division and with that, Big Blue would be back in the postseason for the first time since a humbling boat trip experience dooming them in 2016.

In a year of uncertainty, the New York Giants’ uneasy start may have a positive end.

When the season first began with an 0-5 record, no one would have legitimately predicted that Joe Judge’s roster had a shot to even make it to January, especially with the loss of All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley. Additionally, expecting Colt McCoy to go into Seattle and win was not a thought predicted nor mentioned.

Upon looking up and down the Giants roster, there isn’t a big name present but rather a big cohesion of players that continued to fight knowing that their season may likely end in the first round. But they are choosing to not go down without a fight.

The Judge has laid out his verdict and his team is following through while cooperating fully. The NFC East may be bad, but someone has to come from it for the postseason and, in this year of dealing with the unexpected, the New York Giants may very well be the best of them all and could make a statement if given a chance.
