Atlanta Falcons bold predictions for a Week 14 matchup against the Chargers.
Although they won’t be reaching the postseason at the end of the 2020 NFL season, the Atlanta Falcons are still looking to continue to ride a winning wave in the final portion of the year. After starting the 2020 campaign with a winless record of 0-5, Atlanta answered that start by winning four of its next seven games while having won three of the last five contests.
The Falcons are coming off of a loss to a division opponent in Week 13 but they are hoping to continue that winning trend in a new week of Week 14 on Sunday evening when they hit the road to face the Los Angeles Chargers at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
Atlanta comes into the contest with a record of 4-8 overall, most recently having fallen to the New Orleans Saints 21-16 last Sunday in Week 13 of the regular season.
In that game, New Orleans was able to jump out to a 21-9 lead through three quarters while Atlanta attempted to battle back in the fourth quarter only to fall just short to drop the game by five points.
With both the Chargers and Falcons both looking to get back into the win column on Sunday evening in Los Angeles, let’s take a look at three bold predictions that will take place for Atlanta in the cross-conference showdown.
3. Game will be a high-scoring affair
The first thing that will take place on Sunday evening in Los Angeles between the Falcons and Chargers is that the game will be a high-scoring affair and will be one that will be won on the offensive side of the ball.
Coming into the game this weekend, both Atlanta and Los Angeles both feature a few of the top offenses in the entire NFL to this point in the 2020 campaign. The Chargers come in with the seventh-best offense in the league, with the Falcons recording the 11th-best offensive unit in the league.
Los Angeles has the fourth-best passing attack, with the Falcons holding the seventh-best passing unit. On the ground, the Chargers rank 15th in rushing so far this year while the Falcons come in ranked 25th.
Even though Los Angeles was held scoreless against New England in Week 13 and Atlanta managed to score just 16 points against New Orleans a week ago, both the Falcons and Chargers have been able to show the ability to score the ball with relative ease thus far in the year and that will once again be on display in Week 14. Especially with the sub-par defenses on both teams.
Atlanta enters the game averaging 25.9 points per game (14th in NFL) while giving up 25.2 points on average to opponents. Los Angeles, on the other hand, is averaging 23.1 points per game, giving up an average of 28.8 points per game this year (sixth-most in NFL).
