2. Baker outduels Lamar, throws for 3 TDs

People were quick to pile on Baker Mayfield after his sophomore season with the Browns went down in flames. He set the rookie passing touchdown record, sure, but being at the helm of a team that fell so dramatically short of expectations last year ultimately put a target on the former No. 1 overall pick’s back.

So when Mayfield started out the 2020 season, his first games under new head coach Kevin Stefanski, and left a lot to be desired, the doubters kept growing. And to be fair, Mayfield didn’t throw for more than 250 yards and had four game of under 190 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions amid the team’s 4-2 start.

What’s been overlooked, though, is that Mayfield has gotten so much better since then. He has just one pick in his last six games (none in his last five) and, despite playing three games in terrible weather, has 11 touchdowns over that span, including six over his last two weeks with 592 yards in those games as well.

As metnioned, I expect the Browns’ ability to pressure Jackson, in addition to the quarterback’s continued struggles to find consistency in the passing game, to cause the Ravens quarterback problems. But with Mayfield facing a defense that’s short-handed and finally getting his mojo back, this will be a major prove-it performance for Mayfield as he has another stellar outing.
