10. . . Previous: 26th. Houston Texans. 29. team

There was a stretch there where it appeared Romeo Crennel was turning things around for the Houston Texans. The interim head coach took over for Bill O’Brien and had them winning three of four games as they knocked off the Jaguars, Patriots, and Lions with their only loss in that stretch being a 10-7 defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Browns.

Then in Week 13, they were handed a 26-20 loss by the Indianapolis Colts which stopped their streak. Things got much worse in Week 14, however, as the Chicago Bears were bullies against them in a 36-7 win. What was worse than being blown out was the way they let Mitch Trubisky have his way.

Chicago’s former top pick in the 2017 NFL Draft had lost his job this season to Nick Foles but was given new life when Foles was injured. Until Sunday, Trubisky had done nothing to take advantage of that opportunity. Against Houston, he looked like the player the Bears had hoped to draft, throwing three touchdowns and having no picks.

Houston also struggled to protect their own signal-callers, with Deshaun Watson being sacked six times. He even had to head to the sideline briefly when he was injured and A.J. McCarron was also sacked twice. Now at 4-9, they need to switch their focus to the offseason, if they haven’t already.
