Teams that are used to losing in the NFL have to figure out how to close out close games. That’s been evident all season for the Los Angeles Chargers who have lost seven games by one score or less (that includes their 29-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins even though they technically would have needed to go for two in that one).

Time after time, they lost those games with their only one-score winning coming in Week 1 when the Cincinnati Bengals missed a field goal at the end of regulation in an attempt to send it to overtime.

In Week 14, they finally got it done in a close game and while there was a mistake from their opposition, they still went out there and closed out a winning drive. Facing the Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles forced three picks from Matt Ryan, including one with 30 seconds to play as Michael Davis got the ball back for his defense.

From there, Herbert got to work as the rookie moved the ball 49 yards including a clutch 25-yard pass to Tyron Johnson, which gave it to them at the Atlanta 26. They then set the ball up for a field goal attempt from Michael Badgley, which was good from 43-yards out to secure their fourth win of the season.
