After a win over Carolina, the Green Bay Packers are on course for a first-round bye.

The Green Bay Packers are in prime position to not just make the playoffs this season but to be in the driver’s seat in the NFC. After clinching the NFC North last week, a 24-16 win over the Carolina Panthers on Saturday in Week 15 pushed Green Bay to 11-3, a record that has them sitting as the No. 1 seed in the NFC and also in position to finish having earned that first-round bye.

With the playoff expansion this season, only the top seed in each conference will have the opportunity to enjoy a bye in the 1st round. Thankfully for the Packers, they have Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback. Following his performance on Saturday, he is now the first quarterback in NFL history to have three seasons with 40+ touchdown passes (2011, 2016, 2020).

As for the Green Bay defense, while continuing to be underrated, did enough of a number on Carolina to ensure that they will not bend over. Given how the offense was not high powered, it was the defense that rose to the occasion.

However, the Panthers are currently in a state of rebuilding, meaning Green Bay simply did what was required to win and thus they stand at their record.

The Green Bay Packers must not let off the gas for the No. 1 seed in the NFC

If Green Bay needs any reminder as to how to preserve playoff positioning, look no further than the New Orleans Saints, who inexplicably were not prepared for Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.

New Orleans suffered a defeat, allowing Green Bay to have the top seed. Given the weather that often rolls into the frozen tundra around this time of year, it is essential to have a home playoff game with or without fans.

Furthermore, given how Rodgers tends to play better in his grounds, it would be wise to appease his demands. They will have to perform better overall than they did against Carolina if they want to bring their coach’s trophy home.

If there was ever a reason to add to the holiday celebrations in Green Bay, they can further discuss how their team is playing good football at the right time. They have a few areas to clean up, which are not as glaring as made out to be. Ultimately, it is their record that has the frozen tundra in a holiday spirit and currently, the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
