Seattle Seahawks pushing for NFC West title after win over Washington
The Seattle Seahawks will fly back home victorious and alive in the NFC West race.
The Seattle Seahawks are accustomed to playing on the West Coast yet, when they travel across the country, they don’t seem to lose a step in their game. Against the NFC East-leading Washington Football Team, the result was largely the same. A 20-15 victory has Seattle at 10-4 and in position to challenge the Rams for the NFC West title and avoid having to go on the road for their first playoff game.
Quarterback Russell Wilson seems to have no trouble coming back to his hometown and finding ways to win. It should be noted that his first playoff game was in 2012 at FedExField against fellow rookie Robert Griffin III before eventually capturing the Lombardi the following year. On a Monday Night in 2014, Wilson used his scrambling ability to his advantage in a 27-17 win.
Defensively, the Seahawks have been challenged all year, although, against Washington, the casual viewer would have believed that the Seahawks of the early 2010s had reemerged. Jamal Adams and co. made it difficult for backup quarterback Dwayne Haskins to flash any potential that was shown in college and thus, they walked away with their beaks held high.
The Seattle Seahawks are not to be taken lightly at any point this season
What happened against the Giants was simply an anomaly. In fact, it happens to every team, and be assured that Pete Carroll lit into his players about it. With the NFC West likely to have three teams advance into the postseason this year, it is paramount to be winning in December and to secure playoff positioning for the best matchups.
If Washington were to hold on to the division lead and Seattle stayed as a Wild Card, it would be a rematch in the first postseason game, but if the Seahawks were to win the division, they would likely be the 2nd or 3rd seed depending on the rest of the conference.
For now, the Seattle Seahawks are thrilled with their win and their team looks to be at a balanced level, which was the opposite from their early start to the season. The defense has improved which proves to beneficial to the offense and complimentary football often leads to success as is being shown by the team from the Pacific Northwest.
