Green Bay Packers: 5 Bold predictions vs. Titans in Week 16
1. Green Bay Packers move to 12-3 and on the cusp of NFC No. 1 seed
For as impressive as the Packers have been this season, they’ve certainly not been infallible. In many games this year, they’ve taken firm control of the contest early on only to take their foot off of the gas and allow their opponent to climb back into things and make it interesting. Now is the time for them to nip that in the bud, however.
As we saw the Buccaneers do on Saturday in Week 16, this is the time in the playoff race when teams need to find that extra gear and give the rest of the league a glimpse of it. And when the Packers play 60 minutes of their best football, they have a case for the strongest team in the league. Now it’s about putting that on display.
Tennessee is a perfect team for the Packers to do that against. Though they’re a bit healthier now, the Green Bay offense is made to attack a defense of this ilk. More importantly, the Titans bread-and-butter on the ground won’t be that detrimental as the Pack could potentially put Tennessee in an early hole when the rushing attack will be less viable.
Subsequently, the Packers will protect Lambeau Field in primetime with a performance that not only keeps them in the driver’s seat for the top seed in the NFC playoffs but sends a message to the rest of the league — and keeping Rodgers in the MVP race is a nice consolation prize as well.
