NFL Power Rankings, Week 17: Cowboys inch toward playoffs, Chiefs clinch home field

It wasn’t that long ago where the New York Giants looked poised to win the NFC East. That’s not saying much considering the winner in that division will have a losing record, but the Giants were getting things figured out.
Following an 0-5 start to this season, they had five wins in seven games and a four-win stretch to improve to 5-7 and put themselves in great shape in the division. That’s all been for naught now as the Giants dropped their past three games — and all three have been by at least 14 points.
Week 14 was a 26-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals followed by a 20-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Even with a small sliver of hope left in Week 16, they had that dashed as the Baltimore Ravens made it look easy in a 27-13 win.
For the Giants, the loss means they’re now 5-10 and they have a game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17. The way they were manhandled is just a reminder of how much work they have to do in order to fix this roster.
Sure, they were dealt a rough hand when they lost running back Saquon Barkley for the season but even having him back wouldn’t improve their defense or fix the issues they have had on their offensive line.
