team. 42. . . Previous: 23rd. San Francisco 49ers. 22

They’ve already been knocked out of the playoffs, but that doesn’t mean the San Francisco 49ers can’t still have some fun. They did find some enjoyment on Saturday as they were on the road against the Arizona Cardinals and played a bit of spoiler to their new roommates.

San Francisco has been playing in the same stadium as the Cardinals since Santa Clara has some restrictions that have kept them out of Levi Stadium. Maybe their familiarity with the field helped them feel comfortable in this one as they were able to control the game from the beginning and wound up winning 20-12.

Their defense was the key here as they kept an explosive Arizona offense from really taking off in this game. Kyler Murray threw the ball 50 times but had just 247 yards — which is a low amount for the number of throws. He also had no touchdown passes and a pick, while also suffering an injury on the final play of the game as he struggled with the Niners defense all game.

San Francisco’s offense was led by Jeff Wilson who had 183 yards rushing and C.J. Beathard was the ultimate game-manager with 182 yards passing but three touchdowns. He was playing for an injured Nick Mullens — who replaced an injured Jimmy Garoppolo — and did what he needed to in order to make a divisional rival’s road to the playoffs just a little bumpier.
