3. Robinson’s final attempt to earn an extension with the Bears

One of the most frustrating things about the Chicago Bears’ 2020 season was finding out that they left the negotiations with Allen Robinson on a new contract. In his first two seasons in Chicago, he amassed 1,901 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Additionally, in his first playoff game, he had 10 catches for 143 yards and a touchdown.

This season, he has 100 catches for1,213 yards and six touchdowns. It was the first time in his career he eclipsed 100 catches. Also, he became only the fifth Chicago Bears receiver to have back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons.

Robinson is the biggest piece of the passing game. In 2019, he received 26.5 percent of the passing targets. The next receiver below him received 18 percent of the targets. This season, he is at 25.5 percent of the targets and the next man up received just 15 percent of the targets. While there is a higher number of players with targets, Robinson is still getting his targets.

If he is gone next season, who steps up to take the bulk of the targets?

Robinson will show how valuable he is this week. He is Trubisky’s security blanket so he’ll get the opportunity to make big plays. Furthermore, he wants to show the Bears that he needs to stay in Chicago.

Robinson likes the big games and the big stage and this is a big game to get to the big stage.

Prediction: Robinson makes 9 catches for 107 yards and a touchdown.
