Chicago Bears: 5 Bold predictions for Week 17 vs. Packers
1. Trubisky has a big game in the big game
In addition to the defense getting embarrassed in the first Bears/Packers matchup this season, Trubisky had his troubles. While he had 242 yards and 3 touchdowns, most of that came in garbage time. He completed just 56 percent of his passes, threw three interceptions, and lost one of his two fumbles.
Since the first Packers game, Trubisky completed 72 percent of his passes. Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor has done a great job of utilizing Trubisky’s abilities to play better. He has Trubisky out of the pocket where he can look for a receiver or tuck it and run if no one is open.
In order for Trubisky to lead the Bears to victory, he needs to cut down the bad mistakes and the turnovers in key situations. Since the Packers game, he lost a fumble that led to a loss and he’s thrown two interceptions in the end zone. That cannot happen against the Packers. All points are precious, especially against a team with Rodgers as the quarterback. If Trubisky avoids the boneheaded mistakes the Bears have a chance.
Trubisky will be playing not only to get into the playoffs but also to earn a contract, either from the Bears or another team. Ending the season by resurrecting the Bears and getting them into the playoffs might go a long way to getting another contract with Chicago.
In Trubisky’s biggest game of his career, the playoff game in the 2018 season, Trubisky came through. He completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 303 yards and a touchdown. He also did a great job of getting the Bears in range for a game-winning field goal attempt. Hopefully, he has a good game to give the Chicago Bears a very unlikely playoff berth.
Prediction: 21-of-33 for 236 yards, 2 touchdowns. Adds five carries for 42 yards and a touchdown.
