Most Disappointing Rookies in 2020 NFL Season – No. 4: Jeff Okudah

The Detroit Lions passed on taking a quarterback and instead opted to go with the best cornerback in the draft at pick No. 3. Jeff Okudah had been linked to them throughout the draft process and it seemed like a no-brainer of a selection after the Lions shipped Darius Slay to Philadelphia.

Okudah wasn’t bad as a rookie, but he was definitely disappointing. The former Ohio State Buckeye started just six games and appeared in nine total before getting injured and missing the rest of his rookie campaign.

In his nine games, Okudah had 47 tackles (41 solo) while breaking up two passes and hauling in one interception. It hasn’t been the kind of season that Lions fans were hoping for from their No. 3 picks, but it also wasn’t a total failure.

A big reason why Okudah lands on this list is simply that he hasn’t lived up to his No. 3 selection. These numbers coming from someone taken later on in the first round wouldn’t have been as bad, but because he was the third player taken, he’s one of the biggest rookie disappointments in 2020.
