The Dallas Cowboys always seem to disappoint late but it may not be all bad.

It never seems to change with the Dallas Cowboys. Following their loss to the Giants, there will be no postseason in Big D, yet again having a late-season chance at the NFL Playoffs and falling short.

A late-game interception against the Giants assured that Dallas would not be in the postseason. Frankly, it’s not necessarily a bad thing given that the team lost Dak Prescott and their two starting offensive tackles this season. They stood no shot in the playoffs.

Furthermore, it only makes more sense to take a good look at both the roster and the coaching staff and make the right decisions. This is a team with plenty of talent when healthy but one that must figure out how to live up to expectations when healthy.

The defense is an area that needs a complete makeover. The late-season surge is just a mirage on the map. Yes, the number of turnovers forced over the previous three games is impressive but what did it build towards? Unfortunately, nothing.

The Dallas Cowboys will need to evaluate their team in the offseason fully.

The season is over for the Dallas Cowboys and it may have been a bright spot of a dismal situation. Now is time to truly evaluate the team. The first step is to evaluate the offensive line, which was once a strength for the team and historically has been a successful foundation.

With Tyron Smith getting up there in age and Zack Martin doing what he can, it would be wise to once again look to that area and restock the shelf. Additionally, given how the running game has not looked like it once was, there may be talks of a fresh back.

Above all is the defense. Mike Nolan’s unit needs a complete makeover, especially with younger and stronger talent. Make no mistake about it.

The Dallas Cowboys won’t be in the playoffs this season. But it’s not all gloom and doom. Instead, this is time time to look over what they have and make the requisite changes.
