3. Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

Check the Jets roster; there isn’t a playmaker in sight. Part of the reason Darnold looked bad was the lack of weapons around him. Denzel Mims was always a No. 2. Going into year two, he’ll need some help as he continues to develop. LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is the ideal fit for any team looking for a true No. 1 wideout.

During the 2019 season, SEC defensive backs were left chasing the Tigers wideout. As Joe Burrow’s favorite target, Chase dominated with 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns.

At 6-0 and 208 pounds, Chase has the frame to get bigger and stronger. However, he plays with plenty of power at the line of scrimmage. In addition to power, he uses his hands well in a variety of ways to create space early. Chase is a smooth savvy route runner who excels in and out of breaks.

While not the most athletic, he has enough athleticism to make short catches into big gains. He’s dangerous after the catch, thanks to his elite field vision. He also breaks tackles like a running back, and his intellect allows him to destroy pursuit angels.

Additionally, Chase does a great job as a run blocker. He’ll bring tenacity and toughness to a team in need of an identity. Chase’s ceiling is Devante Adams, and the Jets can use someone like him.
