The Washington Football Team overcame a tumultuous year to win the NFC East.

The Washington Football Team has seen quite a busy year, and often not in a good way. From a name change to severe allegations of misconduct regarding owner Dan Snyder, the list goes on. Couple that with how head coach Ron Rivera overcame cancer and how quarterback Alex Smith overcame a career-threatening injury. Now the two men have united to lead Washington to its first NFC East title since 2015.

With a 7-9 record, Washington has now earned the honor to host a home playoff game against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Without question, this has truly been a magical yet unpredictable season — even if it’s the worst division in the NFL and the Eagles resting their starting quarterback late essentially gifted the Football Team the game.

However, if we truly wish to take a larger look into this team, look at how they are built. They are a team developed within the trenches. Both the offensive and defensive line resemble players that Rivera has been around or coached throughout his football career. Additionally, his staff has players seeing positivity in a negative circumstance. A powerful signal indeed.

Washington can beat Tampa Bay on Wild Card Weekend.

Washington knows what and who is coming into town. A quarterback largely proclaimed as the GOAT combined with an explosive offense and an aggressive defense. Fair enough, but if we look at Washington, they too have a defense known for a pass rush, a trait that has haunted Brady throughout his career.

Brady’s losses are often the results of opposing teams applying constant pressure throughout the game; just ask Washington’s opponents in the division who have won rings against him. Furthermore, the offensive approach of running the football should do wonders when it comes to slowing down Tampa’s defense, particularly their linebackers’ speed.

The Washington Football Team has won their division and with it a home playoff game. A magical moment has been brewing in the nation’s capital and possibly, the start of a new beginning? Rivera and the squad will focus on that later. For now, they have a playoff game to prepare for and a quarterback to gameplan against.
