The Dallas Cowboys must make these five moves to improve in 2021

With the 2020 NFL season in the bag, the Dallas Cowboys are now ready to focus on 2021. And while they won just six games, they might not be as far from contending as that record might make it seem.

This isn’t to say they don’t need to make some moves in order to improve, because they do. Dallas had a lot of issues that were on full display and whether team owner Jerry Jones and his son Stephen Jones want to admit it, there are some serious adjustments that need to be made.

Here we look at the five biggest things Dallas needs to do in order to contend for the NFC East title in 2021.

5. Add another workhorse RB

For just the second time in his career, Ezekiel Elliott finished with fewer than 1,000 yards on the ground as he had 979 yards and six touchdowns on the season. He also had a career-low 4.0 yards per carry and there were games where he was simply ineffective.

Part of the reason for that was the fact that he was banged up all season. The major problem he dealt with was a calf injury, which forced him out of their Week 15 game against the San Francisco 49ers. With him out, Dallas turned to Tony Pollard who had 69 yards rushing and 63 yards receiving — but he wasn’t really churning out the tough yards Zeke usually does.

With that being said, the Cowboys need another back capable of carrying it 20 times per game should Elliott again struggle to stay healthy. Pollard proved to be a great change of pace back but they need that guy who can make it happen between the tackles when Elliott cant.
