1. Klint Kubiak, Vikings quarterbacks coach

The most likely candidate that could take over the offensive play-calling for the Vikings is a familiar face within the organization, that being Minnesota’s current quarterbacks coach Klint Kubiak.

Kubiak, who is just 33 years old, is the son of Gary Kubiak and could make the transition from father to son as offensive coordinator a smooth and simple one as the two likely would run similar systems on that side of the ball.

Kubiak is the most likely internal candidate and candidate in general for multiple reasons, one being his young age and the other being the fact that Mike Zimmer might feel most comfortable keeping things similar within the offensive scheme with the handoff of father to son as the play-caller on offense.

Kubiak has been in the NFL for five years, learning and spending time with his father over the last two seasons in Minnesota. In 2019, Kubiak took over as quarterbacks coach and has been in that role for two years following a two-year stint with the Vikings as quality control and assistant wide receivers coach in 2013-14.

During that span in Minnesota, Kubiak has been able to work alongside his father and within the offense led by quarterback Kirk Cousins, which is why this move makes a ton of sense.
