Who are the best quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Wild Card Round?

There are six NFL Wild Card games this weekend meaning we’ll be treated to watching 12 different quarterbacks slinging it around the football field. Some of these quarterbacks are better than others, of course, but it’ll still be fun to see these guys compete.

On the AFC side, we have Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, and Ryan Tannehill, and representing the NFC, there’s Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Jared Goff, Alex Smith, Mitchell Trubisky, and Russell Wilson. Only one of these guys is making their postseason debut and that’s Mayfield.

Let’s rank these quarterbacks from worst to first. We’ll start with a banged-up quarterback, who might not even start for his team this weekend.

12. Jared Goff

Typically, Jared Goff probably wouldn’t be this low on these rankings, but with the news of his injured thumb that caused him to miss Week 17 and his poor performance prior to that, he sits here. Goff did not look good in Week 16, throwing an interception against the same Seahawks he’ll see this weekend.

Goff might not even play this weekend and even if he doesn’t, John Wolford would be in this same spot due to his lack of experience, especially in the playoffs. This hasn’t been a good season for Goff and because of that, he’s ranked as the worst quarterback in the Wild Card Round.

11. Mitchell Trubisky

Despite performing well in the final stretch of the season, Mitchell Trubisky is still one of the worst quarterbacks in this group. He might have saved his Bears career with his late-season performance, but he’s still got nothing on the majority of these signal-callers.

The Saints have a very good defense and they’ll be looking to rattle Trubisky when he and the Bears come to the Big Easy on Sunday. Trubisky can make moves with his legs for sure, but he’s not great at throwing the ball down the field, which is a big part of playing quarterback.

Trubisky has a chance to show that he belongs this weekend, but he’s definitely one of the weaker quarterbacks in this group.
