San Francisco 49ers: Deshaun Watson perfect quarterback for Kyle Shanahan

The best possible landing spot for Deshaun Watson would be the San Francisco 49ers.

Deshaun Watson is unhappy with the Houston Texans and might demand a trade this offseason. If he’s made available, there wouldn’t be a better fit for Watson’s services than with the San Francisco 49ers, led by head coach Kyle Shanahan.

In his career, Shanahan has shown his ability to get the best out of his quarterbacks. He demonstrated this perfectly during the 2016 NFL season when he was the Falcons’ offensive coordinator, helping Matt Ryan have a career year and winning MVP. Atlanta made the Super Bowl that year because of Shanahan’s explosive offensive game plan.

Deservedly so, Shanahan was hired as a head coach, landing in San Francisco with a 49ers team who needed a spark. Injuries have hurt the Niners over the years, but when fully healthy, we saw how good this team can be, as they made it to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season behind an impressive season from Jimmy Garoppolo.

Deshaun Watson would give Kyle Shanahan, the San Francisco 49ers the QB of their dreams.

If the rumors are true and Watson does want out of Houston officially, the 49ers should do whatever they can to get the rights to his contract. He’d give an already-stacked Niners squad their franchise quarterback for at least the next decade and would have them as a Super Bowl contender every year.

Watson would be armed with a wide array of talent in San Francisco and the defense would be a tremendous upgrade than what he’s had in Houston. They’d have to give up a lot of future draft picks in order to land Watson, but if any team can absorb that kind of blow, it’s the 49ers.

Shanahan has done wonders for Ryan and Garoppolo during their careers and while those two quarterbacks are talented, just imagine what the 49ers head coach could cook up with Watson as his quarterback. The 49ers would be a terrifying team for the next decade and that’s why they have to go all-in if Deshaun Watson is serious about being traded.
