Another area the Cowboys need to improve upon is their defensive line. Trysten Hill did start to come around in his second season before heading to IR and they also saw some growth from rookie Neville Gallimore. That doesn’t mean they’re set but it’s a start and here in the third-round, they find a player who can round things out in the interior of their line.

Alim McNeill is listed at 6-foot-2 and 315-pounds but is much more explosive than his frame suggests. He’s stout against the run by can also get home in the pass rush as well, proven in his breakout season in 2019 where he had 5.5 sacks. Dallas will still need to work to fix this line but adding McNeill is a step in the right direction.

Dallas already addressed their secondary with the selection of Caleb Farley in the first round but there’s still work to do in order to improve their pass defense. For years, the Cowboys have tried to fix their safety position with bargain-bin free agents and late-round picks but now, they actually spend a day two pick on the position by taking Hamsah Nasirildeen with their Round 3 comp pick.

Nasirildeen is a great fit for the Cowboys and while this class isn’t exactly strong at safety, he’s a future NFL starter who has incredible size and athletic ability. With Xavier Woods hitting free agency, Dallas could end up needing someone such as Nasirildeen to start opposite Donovan Wilson.
