Dallas Cowboys revive defense, offensive line in 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft

After an onslaught of picks on defense, we add a wide receiver with the team’s fifth-round pick in Jaelon Darden from North Texas. Darden might be listed as a receiver but he’s really a versatile weapon who can line up in the slot and backfield — which is what he will likely be doing a lot of in the NFL. Think of the role McCarthy had Randall Cobb fill while they were together in Green Bay, and that’s what they can do with Darden.
While he’s not as well-rounded of a player as Cobb, he’s definitely more explosive. And just because he’s small in stature (5-foot-9, 170-pounds) don’t let that trick you into thinking he’s easy to bring down. Of course, we need to see all this against better competition than he had in the Conference USA, but he’s a player who can get from one side of the field to the other in the blink of an eye — something this offense can use more of.
Master Teague showed flashes of being a very good pro prospect but then suffered an undisclosed injury which may have possibly ended his time at Ohio State. Even so, the Cowboys take a flier on him with their sixth-round pick as a player who can compete with Rico Dowdle for the third running back spot in their lineup.
