CB. Virginia Tech. Caleb Farley. Scouting Report. 10. player. 123. Pick Analysis

The Dallas Cowboys found their scapegoats. After missing the playoffs this season, they decided it was not actually Mike McCarthy’s fault but instead, the defensive coordinator McCarthy hand-picked. The same guy he had a full year off to decide on, but hey, it wasn’t McCarthy, it was MIke Nolan. And it was defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, also hand-picked by McCarthy after the year he spent building the perfect staff.

With that issue solved, the Cowboys can now get back to work perfecting McCarthy’s master plan. Here, they try and address their terrible secondary play by using the No. 10 overall pick on Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley, who is an intriguing prospect.

A former quarterback who then converted to wideout before finally moving to the defensive side of the ball, Farley is still learning his new position. And unlike other players with limited experience at a certain position, there’s no way to tell Farley isn’t a lifer at cornerback when watching his tape.

He checks off all the boxes and has the potential to turn into a shutdown cornerback in the NFL. While Dallas will still need a lot of help at safety (even if they hate the position for some reason) the cornerback duo of Farley and Trevon Diggs is actually pretty encouraging.
