30. QB. Justin Fields. 2. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ohio State

With Trevor Lawrence going first to the Jacksonville Jaguars, that means the New York Jets have to settle for Justin Fields — which is no consolation prize. In fact, this is the first time in a while that it seems as though there are back-to-back quarterback prospects who are not only sure things, but they really are the No. 1 and No. 2 players on the board — not like this past season where Chase Young was thought by some to be the best overall player (although Joe Burrow also had a resume that suggested he was that as well).

Fields was supposed to be a star for his home-state Georgia Bulldogs but when someone on the baseball team allegedly used a racial slur toward Fields, it opened the door for the sensational athlete to move from UGA to OSU without having to sit out a game.

Since joining the Buckeyes, he’s been unstoppable. He’s completed 69.4 percent of his passes for 5,179 yards with 62 touchdowns against just nine picks in 21 games. He’s also deadly when he takes off and runs, gaining 800 yards with 15 touchdowns in his two seasons after recording 266 yards and four touchdowns as a part-time player for Georgia in 2018.

The Jets now need to add help around him to make sure he can succeed. It appears they will move on from Sam Darnold, who really got a tough break in New York — but a fresh start could be good for him.
