Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. 9. player. Penn State. Micah Parsons. 45

John Elway might have fired himself into a better job. Maybe.

The long-time Denver Broncos general manager has apparently elevated himself and will name a new general manager — while also remaining president of football operations. So, to recap, he has failed miserably at trying to land their next quarterback and his response is to hire someone else, who he will have full control over. Got it.

On the clock here at No. 9, it’s convincing to go for a quarterback again for the Broncos but there aren’t really any sure players at this point. While Trey Lance and Mac Jones have some upside, there’s nothing that guarantees they will be any better than Drew Lock at this point.

With that said, the Broncos add the biggest defensive playmaker still on the board in Micah Parsons. Another player who opted out of the 2020 season, Parson was a linebacker with no real holes in his game. He has a nose for the ball and is a polished pass rusher as well. If there is anything he needs to work on, it’s his pass coverage but there’s still no reason to think he won’t be a star in the NFL for the next 10-plus seasons.

Hopefully, Elway approves of this pic so his new GM will look good.
