Seattle Seahawks: Defense turned the corner

When the Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII, it was because the Legion of Boom was a huge force to be reckoned with. They shut down the explosive Broncos offense in that Super Bowl and made them look downright pitiful. They rode that defense to a second-straight Super Bowl the next year and were it not for a bone-headed call at the goal line, they win back-to-back titles and their defense is to thank.

While this Seahawks defense isn’t anywhere close to what the Legion of Boom was doing, they did turn the corner in 2020 despite a rough start. In fact, the Seahawks completely shifted from a high-scoring dominant offense who had to score because their defense couldn’t stop anyone to an offense that couldn’t do much of anything while the defense had to keep them in the game. That’s what we witnessed on Saturday.

Jamal Adams was a tremendous addition to this defense and while the Seahawks need to upgrade their offensive line this offseason, a few more key additions defensively could really give Seahawk fans a lot to look forward to in 2021. Defenses win championships after all and that’s what Seattle needs to continue focusing on (well, that and offensive line, of course).
