Pittsburgh Steelers: Majority of the defense is returning
This wasn’t the way the Steelers wanted to go out, but here they are. A once 11-0 team and looking like they couldn’t be stopped lost in the first round of the playoffs to a team who hadn’t been there in 18 years. It was an embarrassing loss for Pittsburgh, but there’s one big positive with the team moving forward and that’s the fact that their defense is returning the majority of its stars in 2021.
The Steelers started the season 11-0 and they did so on the back of their defense. Aside from Bud Dupree and Avery Williamson, the Steelers will have their key starters on defense returning in 2021, which means they can continue to push toward a Super Bowl. T.J. Watt coming back is the biggest highlight, as he very well could win Defensive Player of the Year, meaning the Steel Curtain will return next season and be out for blood.
Yes, the unit started slacking in the second half of the season and that was their undoing in the playoffs, but Steelers fans know they’ll have an impressive defense again in 2021 and while it didn’t pan out this year, defenses win championships. This is going to be motivation for them to come back and avenge this Wild Card loss.
